By Stephen S. Kostas
I really like this Phaser, it's replacing a Phase 90 on my board, and the t-rex just has a wider range of options available. I didn't experience any volume loss (I think in some cases, the phase effect reduces the "cut" of your instrument, since it's reducing or accentuating certain frequencies as it moves through it's sweep), and it's able to go from a subtle Gilmour-esque sound to an 80s cheeseball solo sound.

By D. Parsley
T-Rex is known for their high-quality boutique pedals, so I was curious about the more affordable Tonebug line. When I got the pedal, I was impressed by the build quality: like a little tank. The design is visually pleasing, as is the small footprint. After plugging it in between my guitar and amp, I took a test drive of the settings. It has a toggle switch for Vintage or Modern phasing sounds (both sounded very good, but I prefer the Vintage). Unfortunately, as I was playing through it I noticed that engaging the pedal gave my signal a significant volume drop from the dry signal. I would be cooking along with a nice rhythm groove, kick on the pedal for a solo, and feel like the rug was pulled out from under me. Anticlimactic to say the least. After a bit of this, I dug out my old MXR Phase 100 (probably 30 years old) and tried it instead. The MXR did not seem to have this problem.T-Rex does make a Tremonti model phaser which features a level control, but it sells for over $250. The search goes on.
