Works perfect!

I bought this for the sole purpose of using Trackmaster for Android to record and analyse my lap data during trackdays and race weekends using my HTC Incredible powered by Android as the recorder. I could not be more pleased with the results! Absolutely flawless execution, battery lasts all day, .1 second refresh gives a very accurate point to point calculation of speed and time, and average geo-position accuracy is 7ft!!! works with my Mac OS X using google maps and google earth as a blue tooth serial device, and works with my Win 7 laptop using just about any GPS software available.I am very happy with this product.

For non-IOS users, I've found this to be the superior GPS

NOTE: As you see in the title of this review, this GPS is not for iPhone/iPad users unfortunately.Many of the reviews on this product come from people who have not compared it to alternativse you might be considering.We use this for a business application, and for that reason, I've researched/tested all of the Bluetooth GPS receivers that I can find.One key thing to know when buying, do your research on the type of GPS chip. Like so many electronics these days, there may be hundreds of variations, but you only have a few core technologies below them. This unit uses the MTK II chipset, which is arguably the best chipset going, for a non-integrated GPS. In other words, there is one unique piece of hardware as of this writing, the Galaxy S2 phone, which has a more modern chip with some very unique features and power-saving technology; however, that chip is not practical to use in this type of GPS receiver and for that reason, a competitive solution with that chip (SiRFstarIV) will not likely be offered for sale.We've been using this model for about 14 months with great results. I'll list the reason we found it superior to other solutions:1. Optional 1,2,3,4,5,10 Hz updates. In other words, you can choose to receive GPS updates from 1 to 10 times per second. If you've ever passed a turn because your GPS was 50-feet behind your location, you understand how important high-frequency updates can be. Using a smart-phone, you are limited to one update per second (at best). The reason for this, GPS polling is very tough on battery life. The 1/second option will save battery life if you don't need a more finite resolution.One note on this feature. While you have the option of 1,2,3,4,5,10, only two options are available from the physical switch. You have to connct to the unit via software and change its configuration if you want to use 5 versus 10, for example. The physical switch on the unit only allows you to toggle between 1 and the alternative setting.2. This unit receives a very quick lock, so that the time from power-on, to the first GPS coordinate, is very quick. I can't give you an exact number because the results will vary a tremendous amount by a number of reasons beyond the scope of this review. What I can tell you is that it should be less than 30 seconds, and relatively speaking, it will often be 30% or better than alternative chipsets.3. This unit can track 66 channels at once, giving you more reliable/resilient GPS service.4. This unit is very accurate. However, I have seen tests that show certain conditions where the SiRFstar III chipset (the most popular high performance chipset) can be more accurate than this unit. With that said, in my real-world experience, this is a very accurage GPS and has performed better than the alternatives.5. Lithium Battery or standard Mini-USB. Fortunately you won't have to get a proprietary connector to keep this charged. A standard Mini-USB is used for charging or for updating this unit via your PC. You can also go cordless, and in our experience the Lithium battery that is included is superior to many other options. It's a very high-quality battery, not an afterthought.A few reasons we choose to use an external GPS, which may benefit you:With the exception of the Nexus Galaxy S2, the GPS functionality of a smartphone consumes a huge amount of battery power. Removing that provides a much longer battery life. Our phones will run roughly 3 hours of straight usage without GPS, or 1 to 1.5 hours when using the GPS with a 1/second update, it's a significant difference.GPS need sky-exposure. As you have buildings or clouds, this need increases. A phone is typically not held in the best location to receive good GPS service. On the other hand, this unit can be placed along the front-interior edge of the windshield and consistently provide much better GPS results.Frequency of updates. Mentioned above, this devices provides a tremendously fast GPS update, 10 times per second. It's often used by people tracking their race-times. This alone is one of the best features of this unit versus so many others, particularly when compared to a 1/sec smartphone.I hope some of this research will benefit others, best of luck!

Excellent product!

Bought this to work on a custom GPS application for android devices. This thing is great! The GPS data just streams as a raw NMEA stream, and is thus very easy to parse and use.The only problem I had with it is that some of the bluetooth GPS applications (that translate a BT device into a fake location service) on the market don't actually send all 10hz, so I had to write a custom one for myself.
