I got this tent back in June, but was waiting to use it multiple times before reviewing. I researched tents for over 7 months before deciding on this one and I feel very confident that I made the right decision. Before I even bought it, I knew about the thin material on the bottom...Yes, I do suggest putting a tarp underneath it if you will be popping it on a rocky or pokey surface. There's a footprint made for it that you can buy here on Amazon, but I got a tarp for 2.99 and I just roll it up underneath the tent in case of rain. Speaking of rain, I did camp in this tent in a rain storm and it was great at keeping the water out. Our stuff got damp, but that was because of the humidity in the air, no tent can keep that out. You have to be careful when you zip open the fly so that the water on it doesnt drip into the tent, just give it a shake before you open it. As a rule, get a 3 person tent for 2 people if you want more room. I got the 3 person for my boyfriend and I because I like to keep my bags in the tent even tho there's room in the fly vestibule, because of spiders and other bugs. When not using the fly, this tent is awesome for clear, starry nights because it is almost all mesh. It has lots of pockets, it's easy to pop, and it's very light. I'm in love with my Slumberjack :)

My son and I needed a smaller tent to stay warm. We slept in 28 degree weather and stayed so warm that interior of our tent built up condensation from our breath. Very easy set up and take down. My only complaint is that it feels more like a two person tent.

I was looking to replace an older 2-person tent that was falling apart from use. I wanted a slightly larger affordable tent for general camping that was easy to set-up and use. This tent fits the bill. It's got plenty of room and is a breeze to set-up--plus the tent bag is very roomy, so if you aren't the best at packing things tight this is for you. However, I am not fond of the fiberglass poles (I prefer aluminum) that come with the tent and the way the rainfly is staked out. The rainfly is bit saggy in the middle bottom of each side. There are no tie down options here--which I cannot understand--as this is the absolute place to have a tie down. I plan on sewing on a loop at the bottom of each side so that I can stake down the sides during heavy rains. Otherwise, this is a great tent for the money.
