5Big Man's cot
By Belinda L. Adams
Just the right size when you're over 6 feet tall. Sturdy and compact. Wish the carrying strap was just a mite shorter.

5The best cot for the money - and comfortable!
By Ray Gray
We have several 4WD truck camping trips coming up this Spring, Summer, and Fall. We wanted to move from inflatable mattresses to cots in our 10' x 8' Kelty Ridge 6 tent. We were looking for a durable, comfortable cot that set up easily, left plenty of room for storage below the bed, was at least 32" wide, and could easily support 250 lbs without feeling like it was always on the verge of collapse. We tried several cots that cost anywhere between $40 and $150. The more expensive cots were comfortable and fit our needs, but we were having a tough time justifying the price. We were starting to rethink the move to cots until we both laid on the Slumberjack Tough Cot, a cot rated to 350 lbs. We bought two immediately at a local sports warehouse because it fit all our parameters for a great price. When we opened the boxes we realized there are no instructions with the cots. Still, it took us less than five minutes to figure out how the cot sets up, including proper installation of the end-cap support bars. Once we had the process figured out the second cot took less than a minute to set up. Breakdown and stowage back in the bag takes maybe three minutes. The cot is solidly constructed with very little sway when set up. The bed material is tough. Yep, the cot is heavy, but hey, we're not backpacking. We picked up a 3"x32"x82" foam pad for $20 at a local hardware store, cover it with a sheet, throw down the sleeping bag, and crawl in for the night. Camping can often be an exercise in sleep deprivation due to the lack of comfort. NOT WITH THESE BABIES! My wife and I both LOVE sleeping on these cots with the foam pad mentioned. It feels downright decadent compared to the blowup mattresses we used to use. The Slumberjack Tough Cot was one of the best purchases ever for our camping fun. We're looking forward to years of use from our Slumberjack Tough Cots.

5Tough Cot made out of steel is supposed to be heavy!
By Jason Bowling
First a little bit of my background experience: I'm an Eagle Scout of 17 years now & I've been in the scouting program for at least 27 years. I've been camping in ALL sorts of conditions & equipment. I've used military issued cots that need a broomstick handle to leverage the last bar and spring cots that tear up after about 10 uses. I've used all kinds of cots.Whatever that user above was thinking when they ordered a tough cot and rates this cot a one star b/c it is heavy is one of those "what the ?" moments! Seriously.I ordered 2 of these cots for summer camping during the 4th of July. They were very easy to put together, they don't sink in too much as you sleep, rarely rock as you lay, the floor pads lay directly on the ground (thus spreading the pressure across the square pad; this prolongs tent floor life)and have comfortable carry bags. But it is heavy b/c it is steal, however, that isn't a complaint. Needless to say we slept well on them but I intend to buy a egg crate king foam pad (cut in half) to make it more comfortable.I certainly recommend this for simplicity of use, durability, comfort, and function. I guess that is what it is all about.
