Every couple of years I seem to buy a new LED light from NiteRider, not because the old ones fail, but because they keep raising the bar so far it obsoletes their older products (and everyone else's). I now have an original MiNewt, a MiNewt II, and now a MiNewt.350. They all work great, my daughter rides with the MiNewt II and I use the MiNewt.350 with the original as backup.This light has three light levels with run times between 2 and 9 hours. The brightness difference between high and medium is hard to discern although medium runs twice as long (4 hours). Its bright enough to bomb downhill at 30mph safely. The 9 hour setting is noticably weaker but fine for dark roads at ~16mph. I like to do all night rides (got a 400k this weekend in Santa Cruz) so I love the 9 hour run time. This light also has a flashing mode but I find it awkward to flip from steady to flashing so I also run a Cateye 1 Watt LED in flashing mode all night.This light can be recharged in about 4 hours and there is an LED on the battery that tells you when it is charged and also when the battery is getting low so you can switch settings if you need to.The light attaches to the handlebar using a big O-ring which took a while for me to get used to but now I really like the flexibility. However, if you are used to mounting and removing your light frequently you will not find it as convenient as a slide-on/slide-off type mount. The battery attaches to your stem, handlebars, or aerobars using a velcro strap. There is only a very short wire from the battery to the light so mounting the battery on the frame is not generally an option - but you can buy an extender cable (I think). The lamp and battery are both very small and light which improves mounting flexibility. I hang the lamp under the handebars under my aerobar elbow pads and attach the battery to my stem.The ONLY thing I don't like about this light that I do not like is how it plugs into the battery. It uses a delicate looking 4 pin plug that just pushes into a socket on the battery. The plug is D shaped so you can't plug it in wrong but in the dark it's hard to plug it in at all. Also it's only held in by friction. I'd like to have seen some kind of locking mechanism to keep it in place because it has come out more that once while I was using it.

Really awesome light system! The entire system itself doesn't weigh much, the light is pretty bright, and the battery life is good. The entire package is very well made. Would highly recommend to those looking for a simple entry level lighting system.

This light is perfect for those night rides. We used it on a long relay ride through the night. On the brightest setting the run time is only about 2.5 hours and it takes 4 hours to recharge. On flashing mode it last a long time (7 or more hours). You can spin easily at 25 miles per hour in the dark at feel like you have plenty of light to see ahead of you. The mount works great on the handle bars - we have only used this light on our road bikes-you would need to purchase a helmet mount to use for mountain biking. It does not come with a helmet mount. Overall a great light!
