By E. Sundwall
I originally gave this 3 stars ("it's ok") but have upgraded the review to 4 stars ("I love it") because of some surprisingly excellent customer service. We are in the market for a new mattress not only for our toddler and our new baby (due in two months) and we decided to contact the manufacturer to see if their product has changed or if they would recommend their innerspring mattress. We wanted to ask Moonlight Slumber about their recommendations because we LOVE the exterior cover and the size/shape/fit of the mattress so much that we were really sad to have to look at other mattresses because of the sagging issue we had (described below). The customer service representative answered our questions: 1. The newer mattresses are manufactured differently -- though she did not specify exactly how, and 2. The inner-spring mattress is harder and heavier than the foam-only versions and it's really just a question of preference rather than quality of construction. But more than that, she IMMEDIATELY SENT OUT A REPLACEMENT mattress for our old one. What?! This is not something we were looking for and we are astonished at the quality of customer service we received. Here's to hoping this newer mattress holds its shape. As for our 2nd mattress, we've just ordered a second one of these. Excellent customer service is hard to come by and we're back to being very happy with this mattress purchase.---This has been a pretty good mattress (not too heavy, easy to clean, firm through infancy), but I am very sad out that it started sagging in the middle after ~24 months. This mattress is definitely not made to last and last.We finally turned the mattress over to the less firm side when we noticed the indentation in the middle of the extra firm side, but it hasn't made a difference (I don't know why I thought it would) and our daughter is now 30 months old on a mattress that really sags in the middle. We had expected a $250 mattress to last us all through our daughter's crib and toddler bed years, but now we're stuck trying to figure out whether to buy a new mattress (ugh) for the toddler bed or whether to move our girl to a twin bed, but she's really not ready for that. She definitely loves the coziness of her crib that has been converted to a toddler bed, so I think we'll have to get another mattress. Bummer.
