We used this restoring power during Sandy, works great! I already have Dewalt 18 volt cordless tools so I had plenty of batteries. I also purchased the car charger and was able to charge batteries in the truck,great tool!

I have owned the 24v DeWalt rotary hammer for many years and was a little concerned that it would be a step down in capability but I am pleasantly surprised that it actually outperforms its big brother. Part of this is the LiIon battery, and I like the fact that I can use the batteries I have for all of my other 18v DeWalt products. Recent side by side tests drilling 6" deep 3/4" holes in stone for rebar had the 18v rotary hammer drilling faster (with the same bit) and with more hole per charge (3 on average vs 2 for the 24v model).Smaller, lighter, cheaper, and performs better than the next size up, what's not to like? One caveat: DeWalt does not make it obvious that they have 2 different types of 18v LiIon batteries and for this drill you need the more expensive ones that have more power.
