By Derek
I bought this kit off of ebay for about $40. There should have been two couplers that were reducers, and one fixed diameter coupler. I had two fixed diameter couplers and one reducer, so I used the factory hose that goes from the throttle body to the old elbow. Instead of running to the elbow, this part now goes to my factory vain-type airflow sensor. Getting the airflow meter closer to the throttle body helps with throttle response. I'm not sure how much power it really adds, because I did it in conjunction with a Dynomax exhaust system, but there is definitely an improvement in throttle response and pulling power is slightly enhanced.Be forewarned, Toyota built the factory airbox with silencers for a reason. After installing this part there is a lot of induction noise as the throttle in increased. It is much louder than even my aftermarket exhaust. I built an air-intake shield out of a large round plastic container, and it did reduce the noise to a more tolerable level.I would not recommend this part if you want your 4-runner to remain as quiet as stock, but if you don't mind a lot of extra noise in exchange for a tiny bit more power, this part should please you. I find it is worth it after building a heat shield/noise isolator, and still having a ton of extra room opened up under the hood. The weight reduction is of some significance to all aspects of vehicle performance.Of course, the 3vze, while fairly reliable, is a very low output motor. Nothing short of a total performance rebuild, forced induction, or nitrous oxide will ever make this motor behave like a performance motor. However, I am looking at it in the same respect as I would a performance motor. Every little bit will help, as long as the negatives aren't a deal breaker. It is also worth noting that if you do not ever drive your 4runner hard, the extra induction noise is not very noticeable at under 3000rpm and part throttle. This intake will likely increase fuel efficiency a tiny bit, and the filter can be cleaned, oiled, and reused for many many years. May save you some cash in the long run, especially if you drive a lot.In a nutshell, buy it if you really want a couple extra horsepower and don't mind a significant increase in induction noise.Don't buy it if you want the vehicle to remain super quiet like it is when stock.

I bought this on Ebay. Mine was blue but it was only $40.00. I thought it was a great deal. I installed it on my 1992 Toyota 4runner 3.0. The engine is slow but there is a small difference that is worth forty dollars. I recommend it but buy it cheaper on ebay.
