We have very little "on the water experience" but I took a chance and bought three of these for my kids aged 5 to 10. Within 5 minutes each of them was comfortable and paddling around asking if we could all "go deeper" out onto the lake. This kids love them. They are extremely stable, easy to use, fast, and easy to climb back onto if you decide to take a dip. Adults should opt for the bigger "Daylight" version.

We purchased one of these for our daughter, and it worked very well. She is 11. Does not track too well but as long as you paddle at a steady rate and not too hard then you will be ok. My daughter liked it so much we bought another one and plan on buying a third for our third child. It is very stable and does not flip easily. I had the kids intentionally flip it and practice getting back on. It was very easy for them to do this. Be careful of where you buy it from as they come with different accessories. We bought our first one from Sam's club It is a seasonal item and they are currently out) and we bought our second one from Sports Authority. The one from Sam's came with a paddle abd a front handle but no seat. The one we bought from Sports Authority came with a seat but no handle or paddle. For the record the seat is junk and i would rather have the handle on the front. All in all it is a decent kayak for beginners and will get your kids on the water without breaking the bank.

Nice item purchased for my eight year old god-son. He loves it and got comfortable entering and existing after just a few minutes. Product came in plastic clear sleeve. No issues assembling oar. Only caution is the kayak has two holes in the front which take some getting use to...if he leans to far forward water enters the boat.
