I'm genuinely surprised at the great sound coming from this guitar. I've got the black top version, which I purchased for travel since I can't always tote around my other guitars. I think I've owned about 6 or 7 acoustic guitars throughout the years. I also regularly play a friend's beautiful 1960s Martin 00-18. I can't say that the VAMD-04 sounds better than an amazing vintage 00-18, but I can say that the VAMD more than holds it own against other guitars in its price range. Its a quality instrument, less gimmick and more instrument than I would have thought. I'll use it with a smile when I travel, and since it sounds so good I'll also use it when I play the odd coffee house or small venue - save a little wear and tear on my other guitars.

This model was a little too small for me so I bought an OM model and love it. The sound is also much better from the OM.
