this pedal is definitely manufactured to tighter tolerances than my deore XT pedal that recently fell off the spindle.here are some differences that i've noticed so far:* more precise engagement* most important, smoother float. easier on the knees than the XTs.* spins more smoothlyIMO, this pedal is definitely worth the price difference!

I've been using these pedals for a few hundred miles so far, nearly always in dry So. CA conditions, and they work wonderfully. Lightweight and positively clips in.Recently I used these in absolutely horrid downpour and even after walking up slippery slopes (no pun intended), I was able to clip in with little worries about mud bogging down the pedal.I'm only giving them a 4 star rating although they truly function on a 5 star level because they have extremely sharp edges! After just getting these, I was standing near my bike and just brushed my inner calf against it and ended up with Bruce Lee looking scrapes due to razor sharp edges. Perhaps Shimano could use a 1/32" router and still maintain the maximum surface support area.

Easy to clip in and out of. Works great with my Shimano MT31 shoes.Came with new cleats.It has some sharp edges, so watch your shins when you're walking alongside your bike or spinning the pedal to get it in the right place.
