You know you're getting old when you own a Cryo Cuff for every part of your body! ;-) All of the cryo cuffs are very expensive ($60-$90 each), but when you need it, it's fabulous. There is absolutely no comparison to just a bag of ice. First, you do not have to worry about ice burn on your body part. Second, you can keep the body part iced 24 hours a day. Third, you don't have to worry about leakage and seepage! Fourth, all of the cryo cuffs are able to be used with the same cooler system. You can opt for the motorized pump that pumps the ice water through the cuff automatically, or opt for the cooler that uses a gravity feed.The first time we encountered the cryo cuff was when my husband's orthopedic surgeon told us to bring a shoulder cryo cuff to the recovery room. They put it on him after his arthroscopic shoulder surgery. My darling was doing great and cleared for full activity after just six weeks. We're frugal, so we opted for the gravity feed cooler. I found that by putting in a blue ice rectangle, the water stays chilled for 24 hours.One of my friends had carpal tunnel surgery on both wrists at the same time. She opted for the motorized pump since she didn't have the ability to pick up the cooler or put it down. Her doc felt that she healed twice as fast with less pain killing meds necessary due to the cryo cuff system.This time, my darling had a proximal row carpectomy. Ten days later, his bandages were removed, and the surgeon was giddy about the positive results. The cryo cuff has been instrumental in his healing. It's an investment, but as we age, you know we'll be using this equipment again and again! If not, you'll be able to loan it to your friends and be everyone's BFF!
