The new CT36 incorporates increased capacity, innovation and versatility into this new design. With the dual mode power activation, the user chooses either a tool activated or manual activated start-up. This CT (Cleantec) unit is extremely mobile, with a sturdy chassis, extra large low abrasion rear tires, and double swivel casters up front to easily negotiate any obstacle. The CT36 dust extractor can be secured in place with a single point foot brake. The filter bags have even been redesigned to be self cleaning. These bags inflate and deflate with the cycling of the unit for maximum suction force and efficiency. An integrated hose garage has been added for easy hose storage. As with all Festool dust extractors, the CT36 utilizes the Sys-Dock system that facilitates the use/storage of one or more Systainers to the top of the unit.. Will work wet or dry with no complex conversion, and is remarkably quiet. Its just a shop vaccum, Right? Well yes, and NO. This machine breaks the rules.Rule 1.Powerful vaccums are loud. Well, that is what you get from a cheap shop vac clammering for attention from your neighbors. This machine is whisper quiet by comparison with those dirt cheap machines. Since it is normally ON while a sander, or other machine is running, you will find yourself checking to confirm the motor is on.Rule 2.You need a large diameter hose to pickup chips. Well yes, but dust extraction works better due to the smaller diameter hose which generates a very high velocity air stream. But if you insist, a large diameter hose is available as an option.Rule 3.Replacement filters, and bags are expensive. Yes, but I'm trying to keep the dust out of my lungs. What is that worth to you, or better yet ask you doctor for advise on this, then decide the value of HEPA air filtration. The most valued feature is that 99% of sanding dust, circular saw dust is caught in the bag. It has a large bag that's going to hold many many hours of active collection. I sanded a dry wall repair in a breakfast area; never hear a word from my wife to clean up that mess, and no lingering dust in the air.Rule 4.It has an On/Off Switch. This one has a 120 V plug socket for a sander, saw, router, etc. When tool is turned on, so will the vaccum. Did I mention the AUTOMATIC or Manual ON/OFF switch. It has a variable speed motor; great suction at minumum; almost too much suction when on high. The speed chosen depends on the job you are trying to accomplish.Rule 5.It is NOT Made-in-China, and that is priceless.You get what you pay for. This machine will continue to pay dividends for a lifetime. It is made of tough heavy duty plasic material that will never, dent, or rust. You can probably destroy by running over it with a pickup truck, but a simple fall off the truck is harmless. Well how about German enginieering at it best.Pay me now or pay me later. Save your lungs; save your time with less cleanup; save money over the long run.

Did I call it a vacuum, I meant dust extractor. This is an awesome tool to complement any Festool product. It's not too big and not too small. This is the Goldilocks of Festool choices for me. I appreciate the quality Festool provides and the durability with which they make them available in the U.S.
