The DSLR baseplate is Zacuto's adjustable and expandable baseplate. It comes with a pair of 3.5" male/female rods in order to mount a follow focus and/or matte box; rod extensions may be necessary for long lenses. The baseplate mounts to your camera using a ¼ 20" screw. The baseplate has multiple ½" 13 threads on all sides; (1) ½" 13 thread on both the left and right side, (4) ½" 13 threads on the front (2 on the top and 2 on the bottom) and (2) ½" 13 threads on the back .The multiple 1/2" 13 threads allow you to mount rods on all sides of the baseplate allowing you to create your perfect rig. You can mount rods off the side to make a shoulder mounted rig or to build a cage. The Allen screws in the front of the baseplate adjust the height of the plate for compatibility with all DSLR cameras with and without battery grips for use with follow focuses and matte boxes. Your camera can also be quickly released from the rig by turning the red knob then pulling up on your camera.The camera quick release plate stays mounted to your camera so you can quickly switch between using the camera as part of a rig or on its own. You can easily add the optional Z-Finder Pro by attaching the Z-Finder Mounting Frame (included with the Z-Finder Pro) to the camera quick release plate using two thumb screws. Your tripod plate mounts to the bottom of the plate by using the standard tripod screws, (2) ¼ 20" and (1) 3/8 16".

Awesome Piece of Gear

This piece from Zacuto lives up the hype and is worth the price. There are so many ways to build it up and it's versatility, solid design, and high quality machining make it worth every penny. I use (4) different configurations for shooting, and this base plate design accommodates all of them. On everything from a full-on double barrel style to more a bare-bones handheld configuration, the DSLR base plate makes all of them work seamlessly. I place another plate underneath the unit so I can switch from handheld to tripod with no need to disassemble. I'm still looking for that perfect length 1/4 20 screw to make the attachment to my Arca Swiss style plate to the DSLR base plate ultra secure.Buy one of these before investing in one of the kits and you'll be able to build up exactly what you need and not a single piece more (I've found some good deals on individual components). All of the parts are available individually online, and I've found that some RR Micro parts work better than Zacuto for my purposes. The configuration options are much appreciated by a natural customizer like myself. Longer additional 15mm Zacuto M/F rods will be needed in front for a matte box and follow focus and/or a long zoom lens and in the rear for support/battery attachment. You'll need Zacuto F/F 15mm rods for the side-ways attachments, Zacuto M/F for the front and rear.This design forces some FF units onto the right side of the camera, and it does feel like a small anvil compared to the other DSLR base plates available. The attachment point that connects the camera to the unit has one drawback, and that is that it causes lens movement with heavier primes or longer zoom lenses. A tested lens support system that minimizes movement sufficiently before going out on a shoot is required.

Great base plate!

Zacuto products really are well made and are made in the USA. They are expensive, but well thought out and durable. Due to the modular nature the stuff you buy will outlast most of your gear and will adapt as things change so invest wisely. This particular base makes a great starting point for a substantial rig. We use them as the basis for a tripod mounted solution that quickly adapts into a hand-held rig using the scorpion shoulder mount. Our rigs are well balanced and easily support a monitor, follow-focus, matte box, audio gear, lighting and other components as needed using additional parts.

Excellent product for a Network Appliance

This daughter board was used to add extra Ethernet ports to a custom network appliance built using Jetway barebone system (Jetway JC200S-B-JNF99FL-525) and Sophos UTM 9 software.The board is a bit tricky to install into motherboard (my connector had some pins that were a bit misaligned but it was correctable), but once you past that it is a rock solid network controller.The Intel network controller used in this board is 100% compatible with and is supported by Sophos UTM 9 software (unlike another variant of this board that contains Realtek chips, which may or may not be supported).If you are building a network router/appliance based on one of the customized Linux distribution (such as pfSense, for example) then there is a good chance this Intel controller will be supported (Sophos UTM 9 runs Linux, although I am not sure what distro).I have always had good experience with server-grade Intel network controllers (and their support by Linux) and this seems to be yet another great product.

Another excellant Crimson Trace product

I have Crimson Trace lasers on all of my carry guns and they have been accurate, sturdy, and easy to use. I have fired my SR9C several times with this one and it works just fine. Although this looks a little strange, compared with the grip lasers, it doesn't feel awkward to me when holding or shooting it. I believe that laser sights are needed on most guns used for law enforcement, military, or personal defense, because most shootings occur at night and you can't see iron sights (unless you use tritium). The only negative comment that I have is that with the Laserguard series, it is more difficult to find holsters that fit. Crimson Trace is locating and selling holsters that fit, on their website, or they can recommend correct holsters. This is helping, but you may have to shop around to find a holster that you like, which also fits. I recommend this laser sight.

An OK laser for the Ruger SR9c or SR40c but there are better alternatives.

I like having a lasergrip on my semi-auto handguns and selected the Crimson Trace Laserguard for my Ruger SR40c. This grip is especially made for the SR9c or SR40c (which are essentially the same pistol frame) and fits it very well. Accuracy is excellent as is typical of Crimson Trace lasers. Activation is purely instinctive; the shooter simply tightens the shooting hand and the laser activates. This immediately becomes second nature.The Laserguard looks very sharp on the SR40c. It fits most holsters but will not fit those that are tightly contoured to the pistol without the laser as is obvious by inspection.My only criticisms of the Laserguard are these. Firstly, the screws that attach the two halves of the laser together to fit it on the pistol trigger guard and rail are tiny little allen screws. These are easy to strip, and one wonders how they will hold up through multiple battery changes. Because the grip must be taken apart to change batteries. This is not difficult, but I do worry about those little screws. I personally detest little allen screws of this type for fear of stripping them.My other criticism of this sight is that it lacks a master shut-off switch as is featured on most of the other grip-style Crimson Trace laser grips, such as those for 1911 pistols or the Beretta M9/92fs. This means that you are likely going to be activating the laser even if you wish to shoot solely using the iron sights. The activation of the laser when shooting with iron sights could certainly be a distraction.Lastly, this grip did not hold zero after about 150 rounds. Its POI drifted noticeably to the left (meaning that the dot drifted to the right.) Disappointing.I would recommend the CT Rail Master or the Lasermax Uni-Max Micro in lieu of this grip. Further, these two products have the advantage that they are not restricted to use on the SR9c and SR40c but instead will work on most any firearm equipped with a tactical rail.One tip: READ THE DIRECTIONS when installing this grip. It is VITAL that you insert the screws from the left side to the right side when attaching the grip to the pistol. The grip attaches in seconds IF you follow these directions.Not a bad accessory but there are better alternatives. RJB.

Perfect pistol accessory!

This is a great accessory for my Ruger sr9-c. It turns itself on when I just hold the pistol in a firing position, so it truly is automatic. It was super easy to install and took about 5 minutes to do after I read the directions.The best part is that this still fits in my Remora holster so I can still ccw this.I took off 1 star for one reason....there isn't a master on/off switch for this model. I would like to be able to go to the range and shoot without the laser sometimes....and I don't want to have to remove it just for that reason.
