I've used the OPN2003 for over a year now. It's very reliable and very lightweight. The onboard memory and the USB interface are both great features. Opticon doesn't seem to market it as a USB storage device but I've found it convenient to operate the unit as a mass storage device (the equivalent of a USB 'memory stick' -- Opticon's web site outlines the steps to reconfigure the device to operate in this mode). Several days ago, a student dropped the unit on the ground and, after that, it failed to work. The device isn't meant to be abused and I'm not surprised it failed to function after this event -- what did surprise me was Opticon's exceptional customer service. The unit was treated as covered under warranty (even though it seemed blatantly not a warranty-ish sort of thing) and they promptly repaired the unit -- hassle-free. Highly recommended!
