The unit has some very positive aspects that have to be acknowledged. The unit is very easy to use. Scanning is fast and effortless. Utilizing the flash drive for storage is very convenient. The unit is very light and portable even though being powered by cord. All this being said, the unit proved to be a big disappointment. The intent of the scanner was to preserve old photos. After scanning approximately 200 photos, it was found out that all the scans had multiple streaks through them. The software provided gave instructions on correcting this problem. However, they did not work. After multiple tries at cleaning and rescanning the unit still proved to be a major disappointment. If quality is not important, this may be a unit to buy.

I just picked this up a month ago and it is great. I use it to scan business cards and reciepts and differnt scraps of paper I don't want to loose. I love that I don't need my laptop to use it. I just plug in my thumb drive and zip zip... I defianely reccomend this product.

I purchased this scanner for copying ID's for loan closings and things of that nature.Unfortunately ID's are very nearly too thick to scan. If you use either of the included sleeves, a sleeve is used to pull the photo, receipt, etc through the scanner in an even manner, then the ID will be too thick and it will jam. Okay, so don't use the sleeve you say. Here's the problem with that. There appears to be only one drive wheel to pull the item to be scanned through the scanner and it's flush to the left. No matter in which orientation you try to scan the ID it will at best just skew, significantly enough that the auto-deskew can't correct it. However, it's more typical that it more than just skews the ID as it usually jogs around and may jam as well. In my experience, scanning ID's a no go.As for photos, receipts, etc they seem to work fine when using the sleeve(s). Hence the three stars.
