Bought this snowshoe for my son - his last pair of snowshoes was difficult to put on and keep on and he did not enjoy snowshoeing at all. We live in Vermont and usually have plenty of snow and want to be able to get out and enjoy it in a variety of ways. He absolutely loved these snowshoes as he could easily put them on and maneuver with them and didn't have to worry about them falling off, regardless of snow conditions!

We have been through two sets of snowshoes for our son before finding these. The first set was a pair of Redfeather Youth II snowshoes. We had those for two seasons and the build quality was excellent but the traction was horrible. He would be doing the slip and slide even on the smallest of hills. The next set was a pair of Yukon Charlies which literally fell apart after one season of use. The major problem was the plastic/vinyl lacing used to attach the decking to the shoe. It broke apart in multiple areas. These Tubbs Glacier are an excellent buy. The binding is simple enough to use but stays snug throughout the hike. My son is around 100 pounds in full winter dress. The flotation is superb at that weight. What really impresses me is the traction of these shoes. I know these are not meant for mountain adventures but I have had my son up two mountains with them. Obviously I'm not talking steep ascents but some sections were aggressive enough and these shoes absolutely shined. One observation I have noticed is the bottom of the steel crampon is lined with plastic. I assume to keep snow and slush from sticking to it. The back portion is riveted, but the front is form fitted. Depending on the snow conditions sometimes the front portion seperates from the crampon and snow/ice will jam in there. When the snowshoe is brought back in the snow and ice will melt and the plastic resumes its original shape. It does not seem to affect the performance of the snowshoe which is why I still give it a 5 star rating. If your looking for an all around great snowshoe this is it.

These snowshoes have been great for my 7 & 9 year olds. They spend a lot of time outside in the winter and these have been great.
